CAMP MED AT AHMC

Area Middle School students will experience a variety of health care careers at Alice Hyde Medical Center.

In collaboration with Franklin, Essex, Hamilton BOCES, Alice Hyde Medical Center will be hosting “Camp Med” July 26 through July 30. In this series of half-day events, upcoming 8th and 9th grades students will get a sneak peek at health care career possibilities. “Camp Med” offers these bright students the opportunity to explore and experience real life situations that health care providers encounter everyday.

The weeklong schedule will begin with a tour of the Medical Center campus and the remaining time will include extensive visits in the Cardio-Pulmonary Department, Laboratory, Nursing Home, and the Medical Imaging Department.

Camp Med incorporates a wide variety of health care experiences as well as fun assignments for the students to complete based on their Medical Center visit.   In addition to reading and writing, the camp includes hands-on experiments in various areas of health related topics including infection control and cell modeling. Students will also receive CPR training and certification. Students will be accompanied at all times by Zachary Arnold, Associate Director of Human Resources and Lisa Susice, RN, Clinical Educator.

“Camp Med is an excellent chance for young aspiring health care professionals to gain exposure to many of the challenging, interesting, and groundbreaking facets of health care at Alice Hyde Medical Center.  The Medical Center is proud to partner with BOCES to facilitate interest in the exciting field of health care for these area students,” Arnold said.
